Majority of families living in this area depending on fishing or agriculture as their livelihood.

They do not have sufficient capital to invest; most of the farmers and fishermen lack technical knowledge and proper systems. There is indifference and skepticism among the farmers towards the adaptation of organic methods and the tendency is to opt for chemical usage. They have not understood properly other livelihood options which support their living and income generation. Seasonal fishermen also struggle for their livelihood during off seasons.
Dimuthu foundation has been working for the above marginalized and disadvantaged and strengthen efforts to build their self-reliance and to bring them to the mainstream of the society. Promoting their participation in sustainable and eco-friendly agriculture, education, healthcare, livelihood, income generating and economic activities is highly focused. At the same time, promoting awareness and education for the target communities on their rights and privileges also carried out through advocacy activities.
